Clinical Excellence Awards

National level clinical excellence awards

The Clinical Excellence Awards Scheme recognizes and rewards NHS consultants and academic GPs who perform over and above the standard expected of their role. It is managed and overseen by the Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards (ACCEA). National level clinical excellence awards reward NHS consultants for their contribution at a national level.

National level clinical excellence awards receive funding from ACCEA centrally. National awards are available in the following levels:

Bronze (This is the same amount as a Local 9 EBA award)

Silver

Gold

Platinum

Note: As a Local 9 EBA is the same amount as a National Bronze award, should an applicant hold a Local 9 EBA, the next level they can apply for would be a Silver National Award.

Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards (ACCEA)

The Advisory Committee on Clinical Excellence Awards (ACCEA) is an independent, advisory NDPB and succeeded the Advisory Committee on Distinction Awards (ACDA)

Clinical Excellence awards are given to recognize and reward the exceptional contribution of NHS consultants, over and above that normally expected in a job, to the values and goals of the NHS and to patient care. ACCEA will operate the arrangements which replaced discretionary points and distinction awards with a single, more graduated scheme comprising both local and national elements known as the Clinical Excellence Awards Scheme.

The Royal College of Radiologists is recognized as a National Nominating Body by ACCEA

The British Society of Paediatric Radiology is recognized as a Specialist Society by ACCEA. It can support prospective candidates who are members of the Society, as well as recommending candidates to the RCR for support. The BSPR would like to support members who wish to apply for a national award. We will continue to support members if the ACCEA awards continue.

Dr Greg Irwin leads the BSPR committee for assessment of BSPR members wishing support for an ACCEA award.
