About Junior Forum
About Junior Forum
The BSPR junior forum began at the annual BSPR meeting in 2012, aiming to provide a support network for new consultants and trainees interested in a career in paediatric radiology.
The forum is run by a consultant representative (currently held by Sharon Brown, a new consultant at Yeovil Hospital) and a trainee representative (currently Kirsten Kind, a trainee from Edinburgh).
The forum holds a session at each of the annual meetings, usually a combination of an invited speaker (in previous years the topics have covered the use of Osirix, a beginners guide to reporting cases of suspected abuse and getting started in radiology research). Each year a survey has been performed to assess the current job vacancies and potential candidates in paediatric radiology, with the undeniable shortage of radiologists it is somewhat of a buyers market!
This year we will be concentrating on job planning and consultant contracts – topics which are often overlooked during training but become instantly important on securing a consultant post.
We also aim to collate information regarding paediatric imaging fellowships both in the UK and abroad. If you have recently been on a fellowship or have information regarding available fellowships, we would be very grateful if you could pass this on to us so we can create a list of contacts for future candidates.
Please drop us an email if there are any topics you would like included either on the website or in future meetings, we would be delighted to hear from you.
