5th International Paediatric CEUS Course

Posted by Annamaria Deganello on May 9, 2019 at 8:20 AM Comments comments (0)

This year the London Paediatric CEUS course enters the 5th occasion that it is being organised, with the continuing success of the education on aspects of using contrast ultrasound in children. Yet again we have assembled an exceptional international faculty of experts, all pioneers in the use of CEUS in children, all together in one meeting place – an opportunity not to be missed.

The course will take place on the 24th and 25th of June 2019 at the Fetal Institute at King’s College Hospital, London, a truly magnificent venue that we have again managed to secure for the course. This is within easy reach of the centre of London, just 9 minutes away on the train. There has been a special reduction in the registration fee to allow as many people with an interest in helping with the imaging of children, due to the generosity of the support from industry –you can register for as little as £200 if you meet certain criteria.

This year there will be a special tribute, with the David Cosgrove Lecture being given by Prof Kassa Darge, from CHOP in Philadelphia, a not to be missed opportunity to hear a true pioneer of paediatric CEUS. Other topics include, liver, renal, tumours, testis, trauma and many novel and exciting new applications of CEUS in the child, preceded by a clear and concise description of the technical aspects of using CEUS.

If you are a paediatric imager, doctor or sonographer, this course is a must, with a glimpse into the future of ultrasound imaging. If you are interested in CEUS this course will offer the foundations for your practice.

Please register at the following link to secure one of the limited places available.

6 French Feeding tubes in MCUG

Posted by Jackie Hughes on August 29, 2018 at 4:50 AM Comments comments (4)

We would be interested to find out what tubes/catheters everyone is routinely using for a standard MCUG in babies for investigation of postnatal renal pelvic dilatation to exclude vesicoureteric reflux. We have always used the 6 Fr feeding tube but apparently this tube is not actually licenced for this use . Has anyone had a complication using this tube eg knotting in the bladder ? Does anyone use a different catheter ?

Thank you !

We are looking for motivated and caring individuals to join the dedicated Paediatric Radiology team at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. This post is eligible for a recruitment and retention incentive of £10,000 (pro rata) payable on joining the Trust (Terms & Conditions apply). In recognition of the national shortage of paediatric radiologists, this will be negotiated annually until we are fully staffed.

Wessex School of Radiology has recently ranked top out of the 17 UK schools of Radiology for trainee satisfaction and clinical supervision following the recent GMC survey.

Paediatric Radiology is an essential component of the Southampton Children's Hospital and we have exciting plans to grow the service to continue to provide an excellent tertiary service and advice our local DGHs. The successful candidates will be required to have subspecialist training in Paediatric Radiology and be able to participate fully in the varied work of the department including the dedicated on-call rota. They will be encouraged to develop their area of subspecialist interest in collaboration with their colleagues.

Sheffield Consultant Post

Posted by David Horton on January 18, 2017 at 2:25 PM Comments comments (0)

We are looking for an enthusiastic radiologist with general paediatric training and special interests to join our team of 7. This post is in part due to retirement of a colleague, but also in response to the development of services. Specialisation in most areas can be accommodated and it is suggested that interested candidates explore this further in person.

Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a standalone dedicated children’s hospital trust and provides acute and specialist services combined with community and mental health care.

The department serves the wide range of specialist activity within the trust and has a full range of dedicated on-site equipment: CR, DR, fluoroscopy, USS, DEXA, CT, Gamma camera, 1.5T MRI and 3T MRI which has intra-operative capability. Under way this year we have replacement of the gamma camera with CT SPECT and replacement of the 1.5T MRI. Development of fluoroscopy with a multipurpose C Arm is also in progress which will enhance our interventional capacity.

Sheffield Children’s Hospital is a major trauma centre. Other areas with large clinical and research activity include oncology, gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, rheumatology, metabolic bone disease and orthopaedics. We also provide neonatal radiology for the supra-district neonatal intensive care at the Jessop Wing of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, and paediatric radiology to local DGHs.

There is an on-call commitment of 1 in 7 to cover Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Jessop Neonatal Intensive Care at the Hallamshire Hospital.

The Hospital is situated in the lively city of Sheffield on the edge of the Peak District National Park.

Enquiries and to arrange informal visits please contact Dr Penny Broadley, Clinical Lead for Radiology, [email protected] or 0114 271 7166.

Applications via NHS jobs from February 6th 2017.
